At The Holistic Horse and Pony Centre in beautiful Ockham, Surrey, we provide an extensive range of holistic riding lesson packages. We have over 30 years of experience in this field. Wendy is a pioneer in the practice and teaching of the holistic approach to horse riding. Currently, Wendy is the only riding instructor in the UK to have a Teaching Diploma in Practical Metaphysics. Her approach to ‘Holistic Riding’ has also been covered in many magazines, national press and radio stations including Radio 4’s ‘All in the Mind’. Wendy’s unusual blend of qualifications, personal experiences, compassion and humour allows her to teach, guide and inspire others to be more confident in their riding and to enjoy their relationship with their horses.

The Animal Welfare Regulations 2018
We are proud to hold a 5-Star Licence for Animal Activities, the highest rating awarded under the local authority licensing scheme. This reflects our unwavering commitment to exceptional standards of animal welfare, safety, hygiene, staff competence, and professional practice. A 5-Star rating is only given to centres that consistently exceed statutory requirements, and it offers reassurance to clients, families, and partners that every horse in our care is managed with integrity, respect, and excellence at the heart of everything we do.
The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 require businesses in England that involve animals to obtain a license to ensure they meet the welfare needs of the animals in their care. The five licensable activities include:
- Selling animals as pets
- Providing or arranging boarding for cats and dogs
- Hiring out horses
- Dog breeding
- Exhibiting animals

undergo a full formal inspection every 3 years and a yearly inspection for our horses.
